LOVE  OFFERINGS

One of the special privileges a church has is to take a love offering for a visiting missionary.  While some may view this as optional, in fact it is vital to building a caring relationship with our missionaries.

You may ask why an offering is needed when missionaries are already paid to be home.  The reality is that C&MA missionaries of home assignment receive a daily living allowance.  This compensation in no way is adequate to cover the extensive costs of travel while on tour, of purchasing essential items to prepare for the next four years in another setting, or for the cost of shipping those items to their ministry home.

A generous love offering will go a long way in assuring our missionaries that we care about their needs.  Can God count on your church to do its part to help return the missionary to his/her field?

Please note that giving a love offering is not a substitute for GCF giving.  Supporting the GCF is key if we are going to keep our missionaries on the field to finish the job Jesus gave us to do.

For further info on love offering guidelines, contact the office of Missions Mobilization at national headquarters.

MISSIONARY  HOUSING  GUIDELINES

The goal of providing housing to a visiting missionary is more than offering him/her a comfortable place to sleep.  The goal is to provide a place of refuge, rest, and reflection, so that he/she will be better able equipped to minister to the local church.

With this as your goal, keep the following guidelines in mind:

1) Ask in advance if your missionary has any personal or health needs that require special attention.

2) Inquire about food or pet allergies. Ensure the host takes this into account.

3) Try to place the missionary in a single home for the duration of their stay.

4) Ensure that the host understands their need to respect the missionary’s need for privacy.

5) Offer him/her the option of free long distance calls or email access, to connect with his/her family.

6)  Never place a single missionary in a home with a single person of the opposite gender.

7)  Provide a loaner vehicle if it is at all possible.

8)  Leave the early morning hours free for prayer, reflection, and preparation.

9)  Give the missionary the freedom to connect with you on any issues or necessary adjustments.

10)  Remind the host family of the special blessing that is theirs for being so willing to open their hearts and home to the Lord’s servant.
